Why Cebu Has Become a Favorite Tourist Destination - By Nonoy Avellanosa

Cebu, as many people know, is an island in the Philippines where Ferdinand Magellan landed when he first explored the archipelago. As the oldest city in the country, Cebu City has so many attractions to visit. Apart from the ever-glorified Magellan's Cross and the Sto. Nino in the Basilica, Cebu has so many sights that a visitor would want to see.

But other than these, what makes Cebu a favorite destination by foreign and local visitors? There are lots of places in the Philippines that also have many tourist attractions like Boracay, Palawan, Baguio, Bohol, Davao, and Manila. But what makes Cebu so special from the rest of the cities in the Philippines?
Well, it's probably because of the charm of the city itself; the happiness of the people and the standard of living. Cebu has all the cheerful people around and the city has an unbelievable happy environment. When you go to Cebu you will always feel that everyday is an amusement. You go to any areas of the cities you always see people smiling, laughing, hugging, talking. You wonder if there is an event or a feast in any area you go in the city.

Other than the blitheness of the people and the enchantment of the city, Cebu has so many attractions that will make your travel so satisfying and worth remembering. Cebu has all the beautiful world-class beach resorts such as Shangrila Mactan, Cebu Hilton Resort, Alegre Beach Resort, Plantation Bay, Maribago Bluewaters, Cebu White Sands, and some of the lovely resorts in the Bantayan Island.
More than these, Cebu City has added attractions like the Skywalk in Crown Regency Hotel, Cebu Museum, Cebu Cathedral, Plaza Independencia, Tops, Fort San Pedro, Lapu-Lapu Shrine, Chinese Taoist Temple, and many many more. Not to mention, the countless restaurants, bars, and business establishments are all crammed in the city.

This is why so many foreign and local tourists always want to go to Cebu. When they go to Cebu it makes them feel like they are in a circus party and the people are always welcoming them with warm smiles.
This is what makes Cebu so special from the rest of the cities in the Philippines. Cebu is what you get if you combine the peoples merrymaking and a city's enchanting nature.

Cebu City celebrates their Sinulog Festival every year, usually falls on the third Sunday of January. Sinulog Festival this year has an estimated Four Million visitors, half of the Eight Million visitors in 2010.
